Im sitting here in Eden Grove hall, listening to a round table discussion on Repoting Community: Reinventing Local News in which Mr, Adam Clayton, Mr Eduardo Avila and Ms Nomawethu Sbukwana are the main speakers.
For what has been discussed, it is obvious that we need to have local ways of disseminating information withing our comminities. Despite the fact that some local communities in africa do not have knowledge on how to transfere information using available tools around them and some do not have modern tenchnologies to do so there is a need for people with access to these facts to train other local people on how to say whatever story which worth to share with others.
Blogs, radio and newspapers can be started up and make them open to everybody to use. These means of disseminate information can also be in a made in different languages i.e the local language and other language that the people in that particular community can understand.
But my questions are, looking at a country like Tanzania do we think we are able to have these means of disseminating information in our local community? How much does the government is read to invest on this? How are people prepared for this?
