HIV in Zambia - What are we doing about it?

Zambia has developed a multi-sectoral approach to the fight against the HIV pandemic yet the result has been very minimal in the past decade.
Huge somes of money have been channeled to various interventions to mitigate the impact of this global pandemic over the past 10 to 15 years. VCT has been promoted to ensure people know their status and take action.
However, a great many people have shunned the call to go for VCT. Many people prefer not to know their status, saying if they found out they were positive, they might lose their will to live.
Many political leaders have bee urged to take the lead in the fight against HIV. The church too has been advised to take a leading role in the fight.
Sensitization among traditional leaders has also been carried out. So far it is encouraging to note that some leaders are actually taking a leading role.
It is hoped that if people can really commit themselves take action, positive results would be recorded in years to come.
