Google comes along African Satellite internet...

I was at a conference a few weeks ago - the CTO Connecting Rural Communities conference. To be honest it was a little boring; some technical stuff (microwave back haul) was quite interesting but it was not necessary to travel to Malawi to hear it. What was maybe a bit disconcerting was returning back to South Africa to hear that Google - no presence at this conference  - is planning to 'Bring the Internet to Africa. I don't know if this is another 'way-to-early' announcement that may never happen, but it certainly sounds promising.
