Posted by pmlay on 10 May 2010 - 11:20 Tanzania will soon embark on the second phase of a pilot project of HIV vaccine conducted by the Mbeya Medical Research Programme (MMRP). The programme’s director Dr Leonard Maboko said on Friday that the project would be implemented in Mbeya and Dar es Salaam regions. The vaccine known as ‘TaMoVac-1’ will be tested on 120 people, including 60 from Mbeya and 60 from Dar es Salaam,” he said, adding that results of the trial vaccination exercise would be announced after six months |

Already, 50 pupils from Mlimani Primary School have started to learn about the forest. This is necessary for both teachers and pupils to understand forests, develop an awareness of forests and also respect the forests. |

The disease kills 291 people in Tanzania every day. “This is the disease which kills more Tanzanians than any other,” said Kikwete on Saturday at the launching of a special campaign against Malaria in Dar es Salaam. He said the war against malaria was one which Tanzanians must fight and win. |
Posted by haikam on 10 Feb 2010 - 14:21 President Jakaya Kikwete has directed Morogoro regional authorities to ensure that the over 25,000 people affected by floods in Kilosa District lead a normal life even while still sheltered at temporary camps. The President gave the directive last week while on a two-day tour of Morogoro Region to inspect the extent of damage caused by floods and console the victims. |

According to the local media three TPDF officers punched Swetu Fundikira to death after he overtook the car they were driving, and he refused to give them the right of way. Maybe Tanzanian youth symbolises all of them, in life styles and systems. Uneducated young people are looking for opportunities to study, and those who totally fail to get the chance for schooling are sick and worried about why they lacked a golden... |

This included the installation of a Multifunctional Platform/ Energy Service Platform (MFP/ ESP) at Laela Village, located at Laela ward in Sumbawanga District Council. This represents the continuation of a series of installation of MFPs for better access to energy and rural electrification systems |

It was like a comedy show as we walked to church. Everybody had a new walking style. Some would limp; some would walk as if they were preventing their shoes from leaving their legs. Some of us wore sandals for the first time. |

Posted by Kamala on 9 Nov 2009 - 12:38 This morning as I was walking from a commuter bus stop to my normal business place I encountered a shocking though normal condition – it was somehow heavily raining. I cared not, and kept on walking to the office before my shirt became totally wet. It is raining in Dar es Salaam and it has not rained for a long enough period of time compared to the normal rainy seasons here. As the rains begin, the city of Dar es Salaam city and the nation of Tanzania at large needs some precautions. |
