CJA is running a course in reporting and writing. The course
is a very practical one, taking participants from the initial stages of identifying a topic, to reporting, writing and polishing their story. The aim is for participants to produce an article at the end of sessions that can be submitted to a mainstream newspaper or magazine, or online news site for publication.
The course is structured as follows:
Week 1: Introduction to one another and to reporting. Identify a story topic
and begin researching it.
Week 2: Finalise story topics. Identify interviewees and draw up interview questions.
Week 3: Conduct interviews.
Week 4: Submit a first draft of the article.
Week 5: Submit the final product.
Week 6: Final adjustments, and reflection on the process. Each week, participants will
be given a short reading relevant to the work for that week.
The course will be done online, and will be facilitated by Brett Davidson. He will interact with each participant via email and through the CJA portal, giving individual guidance and feedback.
Depending on demand the course will be repeated to allow others to benefit too.
