Jovens diambulam diariamente pela cidade a busca do seu pão, as vezes com e tantas outras sem sucesso. O emprego informal é tido como alternativa pese embora não seja seguro, mas para não virarem amigos do alheio, jovens, mulheres, crianças e velhos tem na venda de bugigangas a sua fonte de renda.

Freelance Clifford Derrick was the first cameraman to go into Kenya's Kibera Slum at the height of the post-election chaos and showed how its impoverished residents bore the brunt of the violence. Derrick was attacked because of his work and had to leave Kenya because of safety reasons.

Uganda’s economic growth (GDP) is estimated at 8.9%. This is, however, reflected in the construction and communication sectors. Debate has been going on as to whether this economic growth reflects the actual position on the ground. A team of Citizen Journalists in Uganda conducted a survey on small business enterprises in Kafunda zone located in Seeta town, a few kilometres from the City centre of Kampala.

Whether we talk about homophobia or xenophobia, we need to acknowledge the fact that these are hate crimes and that for as long as human rights are not seen as indivisible, these violations will continue in other forms and this continent of ours that we call home will perish.
