First training in South Africa

The Citizen Journalism in Africa Programme is having its first In - Country training in Johannesburg, South Africa. The training workshop kicked off on today, 11 February, and will be running until 13 February 2007.

The objective of the training is to strengthen capacity of local CSOs working with women, children and youth, people living with HIV/AIDS and rural communities in using digital and analogue media to deliver quality contributions not only to mainstream media but also in the realm of civil journalism. The focus of the training is on sound journalism ethics and technical skills.

The 24 participants of this training come from community based organisations in Cape Town and Johannesburg.
