Second training of trainers workshop in Dar es Salaam

The Citizen Journalism in Africa (CJA) programme is hosting its second Training of Trainers workshop in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. The workshop brings together participants from Zambia, Uganda and Tanzania. The participants come from two civil society organisations in each country which have been identified as country focal points for the programme. The workshop is scheduled for 7 to 11 April 2008.

The CFPs will be groomed to be able to fulfil their roles as in-country focal points. The core modules will focus on creating awareness and ability to use a variety of digital, traditional and edge-of-the-net media tools, media access and media skills. Additional modules will be developed and placed on the online learning platform which plays a pivotal role in the training activities. Participants will be trained to improve journalistic skills and standards. Furthermore participants will have the opportunity to practise some of the skills during the workshop.

The expected result of this workshop is: improved capacity of selected civil society organisations including community media organisations to use media tools (edge of the net applications, traditional and digital media tools) effectively and in a journalistically sound manner.

The Hivos/SANGONeT CJA programme is supported by the European Union. Participating civil society organisations are from Uganda, Zambia, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Tanzania and Mozambique.
