Zambia's Loss of a Leader in the Fight against Corruption
Every morning the Lord gathers his best from the garden- and on the morning of 19th of August 2008 President Levy Patrick Mwanawasa was God's rose picked.
We are saddened at the demise of Dr Levy Mwanawasa and convey our heartfelt condolences to the family and friends of Dr Mwanawasa. To our colleagues in government ministries and departments we say soldier on with what Dr Mwanawasa fought for and believed that though your work in fighting corruption, he will continue to live.
We will remember Levy as a leader who stood for zero tolerance to corruption and was instrumental in contributing to the fight against corruption in order to have a corruption free Zambia. In addition Levy will be remembered as a person who contributed to boosting the Zambian economy in order to uplift the poor.
In mourning our President, we would like to urge all Zambians to continue with the fight for justice and peace and the continued culture of constitutionalism.
Let our tears and anguish fuel a new resolve that we can, and will overcome our challenges over the fight for a new constitution, recover our plundered resources and continue to put pressure on those who were charged with corruption in the past and the present.
Let us build our beloved country, as we ask God to guide the soul of our departed colleague into the kingdom of God and console his grieving family, friends and fellow citizens
He will be greatly remembered by all
May his soul rest in eternal peace.
