Some of us CJA folk are attending the MobileActive08 conference in Johannesburg. It's a gathering of people involved in, or just interested in, the use of cellphones for development and social change. There's so much on the programme, it's serious information overload! After lunch I  wandered around the SIMLab and SIMPlace  --  kind of like an open marketplace where you can wander from stall to stall and find out about a range of projects.

There has been quite a passionate debate going on in health circles recently, about whether too much money and too many resources have been devoted to HIV/Aids, while other diseases and health problems get no attention. A new study seems to settle that debate by showing that resources and effort put into treating HIV/AIDS, and the lessons learnt, are having a positive impact on health systems as a whole.
